Magistrate Gives In - The Judicial System is a Joke

In the Cairns Post Wednesday March 10, 2010 the story outlines an offender abusing the sitting Magistrate who in turn ordered that the offender be taken into custody and be charged with "comptempt ".

Then as the offender was being led away the magistrate did a turn around and gave the offender the chance to opologise and the offender not wanting to go to jail quickly apologise.

My point is if you abuse the court then you pay the penalty and this is an example why the system doesn't work.

What do you think?

We have read this week in the Cairns Post that 82 females ranging in ages from children to 82 years old an average of one a week.

These figures are appalling and I ask when is the Government going to get fair dinkum with the Justice system.

If this happened in America the sentence would be more likely to be 15 years to life - here it is a holiday.

Lets look after these victims and force the Government to change the laws and make the judicial more accountable.

How many times have we heard the Police say that they are understaffed?

Since 2007 when I founded Residents Against Crimes I had a 2 hour meeting with the then Police Minister Judy Spence in her Brisbane office and during that meeting I stressed to her that Cairns needed more police due to the crime rate and under staffing.

I then invited her up to a meeting with residents and she was told in no uncertain terms that we needed more police.

Well prior to the Government Parliamentary sitting in cairns in October, 2008 it was announced that Cairns would get 12 extra police following that we have had a number of new recruits stationed here in Cairns and the surrounding area for which we are grateful but we still need more.

We need to support the Boys & Girls in blue as they are there to protect us but unless they get more officers and public support that protection may slowly decrease.

Please support them by having you say.

More assults and Crime in Cairns

Again we read of the assults and bashings of locals or visitors in and around Cairns.

The latest attack on a Night Owl convenience store at Earlville and was attacked with a "COKE BOTTLE", - can you believe that.

When is this State Government going to realise that the crime in this State is out of control and act accordingly - probably never, why, because they are dictated to by the top haunches of the Labor Party.

Don't expect to see the "3 strikes and your out" in this state because I was informed by a Chief of Staff of a Minister that it is not the policy of the labor party.

What do you think?

'Sneaky' cop cars nab speeders

To say that the new Q cars are sneaky is totally irresponsible as most of us know that motorists slow down when they see a marked car either behind them or coming in the opposite direction and when the police car has passed they again speed up - it happens all the time.

These cars were being used in N.S.W. back in the 80's and proved very effective in catching motorists breaking the law.

Also they are very effective when driving around and coming across vandals or criminals breaking into cars or houses as the offenders do not recognise the vehicles as being police cars.

Work with the police not against them.

What happened to the offenders

Reading the Cairns Post Wed 1 July, 2009 read more one wonders where the proper justice is.

A young pregnant female is threatened by a group of drunks outside a local shop and her mother unwittingly grabs a knife and threatens the attackers.

This type of revenge is wrong but unless the justice system starts to look at the incidents and sentence the perpetrators and warning them that this type of attack on people will not be tolerated.

The mothers action were that of "I have to protect my daughter" because I suffered the same the same type of trauma years earlier in Brisbane and lost my unborn child.

The way the law stands at the moment do we allow these attackers a free reign or do we condone what the victim/s may do in a minute of panic.

Vigilante type of revenge won't work in fact it will lead the person playing out the role of a vigilante straight to jail so lets work together and make the government change the judicial system so it works for the victim/s and not the offenders.
